Kielder Rally 23rd-26th July 2021
Rearranged from 2020 we are hosting a Cape Cutter Rally at Kielder Yacht Club, Kielder Water, Northumberland.
The Rally would start Friday 23rd July and finish on Monday 26th July 2021.
Kielder Water is a beautiful place to sail surrounded by magnificent hills, and a big clear sky (is a dark sky park). It is the largest man made lake in the UK (by volume) with about 27 miles of shore line. It has peaceful bays and cuttings for overnight and lunchtime mooring.
The Yacht Club has a welcoming club house and excellent slipway and plenty of parking for cars and trailers.
The lake is owned by Northumberland Water who have agreed to waive their permit fee for those partaking in the rally. They have a water side centre with pontoons where we hope to have dinner on one of the evenings. Along with a BBQ at the club, a cruise in company around the lake and a race it will be a lot of fun.
Check out the club's excellent new website.

Hello All,
The Solent Rally has set a standard that will be hard to reach but as you know we are going to run a mini rally at Kielder water.
Rather than try and remember who said they could or couldn’t come I am re-inviting you all to make sure I have not missed anyone.
So far we have:
Adam and Matt Bridger in Meisje
Dennis Ogle in Mary Ann
Gary Oldfield and Jayne in Moneypenny
Charles Erb in Aurora
Tony Treen in Wadudu
Alistair and Katie Bell in Tystie
The outline of the rally is :
Friday launch and sail with a meal provided at Kielder Yacht Club (KYC)
Saturday free sailing or a treasure hunt around the lake with a BBQ at KYC
Sunday a friendly race followed by an evening meal at Leaplish waterside park
Monday retrieve boats and journey home.
In addition Gary who lives at Waterside Mill East, Humshaugh, Hexham, NE46 4ET, about 35 mins away from Kielder has offered to host travellers and their boats in his field on the Thursday night 22nd july with a BBQ. (bring your own drink and BBQ food). I’m sure that would be fun.
Gary would also be able to store your boats after the rally if you wanted to go on to explore the beautiful county of Northumberland for a few days.
So please contact me if you can make it, we will be delighted to see you.

Hi Adam. Count me and Sapphire in. I'll come up on the Thursday and be delighted to accept Gary's offer. I'll probably stay on until Tuesday or Wednesday before returning home. I'm also looking for a week in September if anyone has any ideas.

Wadudu confirms attendance.
Also thanks to Gary for the overnight / BBQ offer on Thursday. Will definitely take that up, is a fair way from Devon.
In respect of that, will also stay at Kielder for an extra day or two if the weather is good, if that is possible with the Kielder club / authorities.

Hi Adam,
If it is not too late I would like to come and bring Iris.
Would like to come up day or two early, maybe Wednesday or Thursday and launch if OK with club/water board.
I may need to leave Sunday evening also (so would miss meal) as I am supposed to be running a training course on the Monday.
If it is OK to join you I will see if I can sort something out about Monday.
Richard
