Hanked on staysail - how high?

Postby Ru88ell » Sun Mar 20, 2011 9:46 pm

Guys
Zephyr came with a Plastimo furler think, which I didn't think was very attractive so I took it off and had the sail converted back to hanked on. However, I'm not sure how the tack fixes.

I sense that I need to tie the bottom of the sail to the deck fitting - but what is the distance between the two? I can't quite see this on any pictures or Dennis's video's.

Also, I note that this question was never answered in another thread, what rig tension should I aim for?

Thanks
Russell

ps - Hoping to launch next week - so need answers. ;)

Stay Sail

Hi Russel

The tack should be around 4-6" from the deck.

Tighten the shrouds until they just twang.

Do not over tighten them as the Cape Cutter is not a racing dinghy!

Regards
