Thanks Russell, we were back from the tour by the time I saw your reply, we had a good trip see new post in Chat. Hope yours has gone/is going well.
The drying was fun, some trouble landing and taking off but was ok in the end. Can explain in more detail. The only problem the stay on the beach caused was a jammed keel. Some pebbles washed up the gap and locked it solid.
We sailed home fine, in fact in the longish north swell the last bit was a surf down some 5/6 footers breaking into Wells bar which under poles and motor at about the same speed as the waves she handled beautifully, just slid across the fronts and straightened her out in time to get carried by the next one. Didn't have far to go to get into shelter which is just as well as crew was complaining of shaking of the knees. Fortunately she took my advice and didn't look behind, it did look a bit intimidating. Robyn behaved admirably though.
Once home a crawl underneath revealed the culprits and a hacksaw blade and coarse tooth blade fetched the little blighters out. I was surprised that a couple of hours sailing after the beach didn't just wash out the pebbles. Could have been aggravated by me constantly pulling the keel up to try to release. If that happens again I will leave the water to run through a while first.
Regards Simon
