They look good. I’m amazed these aren’t obtainable in the UK. I could do with replacing both of mine.

The part looks to me as the hardware used for the mainsheet of an Optimist.
But I don't know the exact dimensions because our CC19 of from SA and has an other design for the turning blocks.

I made a simple modification to mine years ago.

The result is similar to the version you have bought Malcolm.

I simply removed the swivel clevis and replaced it with a M6 lifting eye-nut. The head of the M6 screw was reduced in thickness so that it would not protrude below the base of the plate.

Very neat and very strong Dennis. I should have guessed you’d have sorted it out - and much more cheaply too. I’ve just had another invoice - from Fedex - for import VAT and some other fees they’d like me to pay them, which puts the price per item at about £16. Charles may want to note this as last time I mentioned price I had only seen the SA company’s price which, inc Shipping, was half that.

Same happened to me. The quick fix was to tie a tight bit of cord across the deck between the chain plate and the front of the tabernacle with a small loop in it roughly in position of the turning block and reattach the block to the loop with a shackle.
Also not being able to easily source a replacement I then bought a Clevis pin from the chandlery, ground out the old pin, cut down the new one to length refitted the U bracket and peened over the end of the pin.
Incidentally they are identical fittings used on the mainsheet blocks on the transom which can be swapped over If necessary to get out of trouble.

The reason it broke it is that despite new jaws my Spinlock jib halyard clutch slips leading to sagging luff tension. I therefore now put the halyard on the winch, tighten it up and leave it there. However, Note to self.. only have one tin of spinach!
