As a prolific solo rigger and de-rigger I'm found wanting for something to lay the mast on when I'm threading the top tabernacle bolt. The tiller isn't good as the mast can slip off and cause enough twist to take the bolt holes out of alignment. I'm thinking of making a wooden contraption which sits on the transom, straddles the tiller, and is of sufficient height and width so that I can lay the mast on it for rig/de-rig and transportation. It could also be used to fit the light board to, as I'm sure it should be at the back of the boat and not a metre in front of it as most seem to be.
I'll make it from thin ply and 2x1, but I need to know that angle before I start my prototype. Once sorted my dad will knock them our for anyone who wants one.
And thanks, David, for being so quick!
