Fenders

The prime movers for your Cape Cutter 19.....

Fenders

Hi all
I have 4 x fenders on KIRA and they are 13 x 45
a tad small I feel, what size fenders do we use? I'm on our 2021 Solent rally and I don't want to be rafting up with chipolatas as buffers.

Hi Lee,

those don't sound unreasonable, Cape Cutters don't weigh much and looking back at photos others use similar. The challenge with fenders on a Cape Cutter is stowage. For that reason we use the small Plastimo flat fenders

.
Four of them plus mooring lines fit easily in a cockpit locker, two each side cover most eventualities, or two on the intended side, one on the other and a roving. They aren't quite as good as the larger inflatable types but they are vastly more manageable when not in use and don't roll out of the way like some inflatables can do.
