I spoke to the dealer about this. He said they just had different jets and that you could modify a 5hp to give higher power but it would invalidate any warranty.

I had a Yamaha 6HP 2cylinder with coil and saildrive prop .. a bit heavy and had to mod boat very slightly to get in .. but a FANTASTIC bit of kit .. very economical .. beautiful engineering .. don't skimp on power if going to sea! .. definitely get the right prop too
