Small boats small torches

Small boats require small toys.

Have you assessed your boat’s torch(s) recently?

There is now a range of small torches on the market using the latest LED Cree bulb technology. These give an incredibly bright white light that easily outperform the older candescent bulbs and even the multi LED torches.

Fortunately, they need not be too expensive if you shop around.

I recently tested one against the more heavy traditional candescent variety and found it came out on top despite it being less than the size of your hand.

The three main things to look for in purchasing a torch are:

1. The bulb technology must be the latest CREE type.
2. The lens must be of the focusing type to adjust the beam concentration.
3. It should have different settings i.e. full/half power, warning flash (some also have an SOS signal).

The torches have a high lumens output (some greatly exaggerated though) and can accept a variety of battery types from 3xAAA, to rechargeable versions or combinations.

These are ideal for slipping into your pocket when going ashore at night for lemonade!:)

Below is a link to Amazon. Type in the Search Box “Cree Torch”:
(For some reason it is not possible to create a full link to their Cree torches-anyone know why?)

Thanks Dennis, that’s a better link than mine but only picks one basic torch with others you may consider. If you now type in the search box of your Amazon link “Cree torches” then 100’s come up from different suppliers. If you then copy that website address and paste it on this forum only the main Amazon page comes up. If you paste it onto a Word document then they all come up! Try it.

Do you have one of these torches with the Cree bulbs?
