Kielder

Just back from a (quickie) sail on Kielder Water.

I had remembered that I had left the spare wheel on the boat trailer, so I had to go to retrieve it. I grabbed a couple of hours on the water while I was there.

Brilliant weather, 24C and sunny, wind F0-2 westerly.

7.0 Nm covered, max 4.7 kts.
Cheers

Orwell

Postby Killick Greenie » Wed Jul 17, 2013 8:46 pm

Out on the Orwell, F0 - F3, took four hours to get to Halfpenny pier from Woolverstone. Is this a record?! More of a controlled float than a sail.

Tacked all the way!

Sort of. Motored from the launch ramp to the visitors pontoon at Mylor harbour in Cornwall. Very difficult mooring in an F6.

We're now just a few boat lengths along from Aurora, and about 100m from Richard Rickard's Nettie on her mooring. I've even seen Ladybird parked on the hard in Penryn. It's like a Cape Cutter 19 fest!

Orwell again

Postby Killick Greenie » Sun Jul 21, 2013 10:11 pm

Beautiful day, wind all over the place. Beat down the river with tide and nice slow ride back to mooring.

Used the genoa for the first time, works perfectly when its not wrapping itself around the forestay.

Weather was fantastic, sunny and hot! Seven hours of CC19 fun.

Pottering in the Percuil

Postby erbster » Sun Jul 21, 2013 10:34 pm

Launched in Mylor yesterday. Today motored to Falmouth for lunch on a mooring and the sailed up to Penryn. Motored back to Falmouth and then St Mawes, where we anchored for a swim. Lovely sail back to Falmouth for fish and chips on the quay side. Wind varied from F7 to F2. Still as a pond now. Tomorrow is another day...

From Mylor to Falmouth harbour anchorage for a very late lunch. Much fresher today, so staysail and one reef in main. Son, Max, helmed back to Mylor through the race fleets, downwind with full sail. Sailed alongside Aurora briefly leaving Falmouth.
