Here is the itinerary, thanks to Malcolm and Gary:

CC Rally 2018

Planned programme.

Sat 26 May: Arrive Largs. Rig and launch. Chance to sail round Cumbrae for early arrivers. Overnight at Largs. Dinner at yacht club.

Sun 27 May: Sail to Inverkip. If favourable winds, via Holy Loch Marina (total route for day 23 NM) where we can tie up and visit the hearty cafe for lunch. If unfavourable direct to Kip (9 NM). Dinner in the excellent pub.

Mon 28 May: Sail to Rothesay – Moor in harbour. If favourable weather take excursion up Loch Striven on the way. If not, go direct (8 NM). Dinner in one of restaurants/pubs in Rothesay

Tues 29 May: Sail via Kyles of Bute to visitor moorings at Kames Hotel, Kames, just south of Tighnabruaich (ie not Kames Bay just north of Rothesay) (11 NM). If we were not able to do Loch Striven on 28 May, there is a second chance to go up it today – it is a beautiful Loch. Dinghy ashore for a pint and a walk, and supper in Kames hotel which is a very good pub restaurant.

Wed 30 May: Sail to Portavadie (11 NM). If weather is really bad we can go back through Kyles of Bute to Port Bannantyne Marina (confusingly in Kames Bay 2 miles north of Rothesay).

Thur 31st May: Day at Portavadie for a second night. During the day, some may choose to use the spa or other v good facilities at this brand new marina, or some may choose to sail to Otter Ferry for lunch in the gastro pub. Much will depend on wind of course – it is 11NM to Otter Ferry from Portavadie. It is only 3 or 4 NM to E Loch Tarbert, if the wind is not good for Otter Ferry, we could go there for lunch.

Fri 1 June: Sail Portavadie to Largs. Have our final dinner at Largs

Sat 2 June: Haul out at Largs, de-rig and head for home.
Optional sail around the Cumbraes for those not leaving on Saturday.

Sun 3rd June: – haul out at Largs, de-rig and head south for those who need to leave.

For those who are staying longer, sail north, perhaps to Holy Loch marina from where we can explore Loch Long (Carrick Castle) the following day, etc. Other possibilities for the rally extension include going over to Arran to Lochranza and or Lamlash.
Cheers

Looks an excellent itinerary. Very much looking forward to it. Although I've had a week up there must of the stops are new to me. As I'm thinking of staying a bit longer I may carry on North from Portavidie and perhaps come back round Arran rather than sail back to Largs on the Friday. Obviously depends on the weather. I know if I return to Largs on Friday I'm likely to call that the end of the cruise and set off home.

Hi Dennis

Due to a crew issue I will only be able to arrive on the following Thursday. We will try and meet you coming back from Portavadie but if the weather is fairly settled we will be heading to Cambletown on the Mull of Kintyre, stopping off at Holy Island on Arran for the first night. We were going to do this last September but the weather was atrocious!

Kind regards
