I'd love to go to Scotland with Aurora, but I don't think thats on the cards with the family at the moment.

Hello Charles,

I may have what you need to convince the crew. Lyndsey, Erin, Joshua and I spent 8 days sailing the Caledonian canal last summer, it was fantastic and they all loved it.
We launched at Inverness and went all the way down to Loch Leven (out the canal sea lock) and back again. We decided that was more fun with the wind forecast than going further out to sea and road travelling to get the car and trailer. It does all look different going the other way.
If you want to see any pictures to convince the crew then let me know and I can send you a link to some in dropbox.

Hello Andrew

Why don't you put the pics in an album in the forum Picture Gallery? :)

We would all love to see them.
Cheers

Dennis

Hello Dennis,

I tried that, don't know if it's a permissions issue but I could not create a new album. Also what is the size limit on attaching a picture to a post as that also failed?

Hello Andrew

See the email I have sent you regarding the creation of albums and uploading pics.

Re the limits on attaching images to posts;

Max file size: 256 KB
Maximum image size 800 x 600 pixels
Maximum 3 images per post.

In the Photo Gallery the maximum file size is 1 MB.

Looking forward to seeing the photos. :D
Cheers

Dennis

Hello Dennis,

Pictures now uploaded successfully. Thanks for the help sorting the issues.
As you can see, it was mostly excellent weather and for those who know Scotland, the midges hardly bothered us at all for peak season in August. They don't seam to like being out on the water.

One thing to note if the rally is planned for the canal next year, the wind in the lochs is very fickle and can be quite volatile. At one point we went from glass mill pond motoring to three reefs in the main F6 in less than five minutes with no real warning, it just rolled over the hills and blasted down the loch. You also tend to be either beating or running, which is not surprising when you look at the V shaped steep sides, wind doesn't really blow across the loch.

Regards
Andrew
