Solent Meet - 2012

Postby Ru88ell » Mon Jul 04, 2011 1:43 pm

Folks

After a few false starts I'm planning to get a Cape Cutter 19 meet planned for next year - to give us plenty of time to spread the word and plan.

I've not decided on a date yet, but what I would like to know is who would be interested? Maybe we could start with meeting up at The Folly on the Medina, which would allow for people to launch wherever. Or we could all plan to meet at Buckler's Hard and help each other to rig and launch. We could do both - those already Solent based can sail to The Folly and those who've travelled can meet and launch at Buckler's Hard.

We could be sensible and stay in the Solent, or brave and try and do our own Round the Island - or both!

Please let me know if you are interested by posting a response below.

Not a peep. Tell me, am I wasting my time trying to arrange events? Is anyone actually interested in taking their CC19 anywhere, or do you prefer to use it where it is and that's it?

Hi Russel.

I wouldn't get too dis-hearted about not getting any replies just now.
A lot of people will be away on their hols, I expect.

Personally, I would like to get together with a few other members.
Timing and travel will always be an issue, for most people.

Me, I tend to be away in France most of the summer, and when at home, the Solent is about an 10/11hrs drive away!

My brother has a boat on the 'Veerse Meer' in Zeeland, Holland, and informed me that he saw a gathering of UK Schrimpers (about a dozen) there in June.
They had driven across and collectively hired a small crane for lifting into the water.
So it is well possible to do! (And a lovely location!)

Don't give up, I will be interested in a get together if I can fit it in.
Regards,
Michiel

Have just found a link to the afore mentioned gathering of Shrimpers in Zeeland.

Sounds a great success, apart from the weather!
