Gaff jaws

Postby erbster » Wed Jul 01, 2020 3:52 pm

Aurora has had some plastic tubing covering the stainless gaff jaws since new. For those that are interested, I have posted some info on "leathering" the gaff jaws in my blog - https://travellingaurora.wordpress.com/ ... gaff-jaws/

Whilst the gaff jaw fitting was removed from the spar, I made a few measurements at the request of others. The two jaws make an angle of 135 degrees to the fitting. The spacing (outside edge to outside edge) of the "mouth" of the gaff jaws is 160mm.

Many thanks Charles. I’m sorry I was so obtuse as not to know which angle was the right angle, but your acute observation will enable me to make both jaws point in the correct direction (which I note is SE).

I will report back if that overcomes the fouling of the lazy jacks problem.

All the best

I’m glad it hasn’t sent you round the bend!
