94 viewsThe component parts of the repair kit. The repair plates for kaliope had cut outs to fit around the top rudder pintle mounting. On Ladybird this mounting must be lower thus allowing a larger repair plate.Feb 11, 2015

88 viewsPositioning prior to Sikkaflex and bolting together. These plates were made by a stainless steel fabricator in Volos Greece. He took the sketches and had the rudder in his workshop to make sure it all worked out OK. He also drilled the rudder for the new plates. Cost of S/S work in total €120. Pretty good value I think.Feb 11, 2015

25 viewsKaliope almost ready for launching for 2012 season. This year I had to remove almost all the original antifouling, after sealing & priming it now has a hard antfouling.... The hull came up beautifully with its final polish with Hempel wax and protect with a UV protection additive. Finally some further enhancements to the rudder around the tiller fitting and we were ready!Feb 11, 2015

29 viewsI've had a new sail cover made in Volos. It encompasses the whole sail, boom and gaff to help protect it from the strong sunlight. A tongue with velcro wraps around the mast ming the whole thing very secure. A fair price at €145 made by a shop that makes sun awnings....Feb 11, 2015
